Spanish will prepare you

Students who have had zero to one year of high school Spanish will be placed in Spanish I.  You can not say that one who speaks Spanish will nicely understand Portuguese and vice-versa.  If you want to exchange simple comments with local folk, answer questions about yourself in Spanish, ask directions (and understand the answers), then Rocket Spanish review is not going to be very useful to you.  Your interest in French or Spanish will no doubt grow along with your French connections or Spanish connections.  Moreover, the reading, writing and oral assignments students will need to complete during their minor in Spanish will prepare them to confront the demands of graduate school, as many graduate programs require proficiency in at least one foreign language.
