Time to Replace Your Car?
October 22nd, 2010
It seems like all those auto parts under your old NH car have already been replaced and yet, you’ve just found another one that needs replacing. Is it time to replace the car instead of the auto part?
If car is still relatively reliable and it still costs less for you to repair your car than to make car payments on a new one, then go ahead and fix it. In addition, your auto insurance will most likely cost less on an older vehicle, so you will save there as well. Be sure to put away those savings for a down payment when the time does come to invest in a new car.
There are various scenarios to consider when that time is near. One is the type of failure – is it major? If so, it may be time. Do you live in an area where a breakdown could put you in danger? If so, it may be time. Do you rely on your car for work; such as do you need it in order to do your job (think sales)? If so, it may be time.
The long and the short of it is that only you can decide when is the best time to invest in a new car. If it is still cheaper to fix your old one, then go ahead and pocket your savings. If on the other hand, you find that your old car is having a major impact on your life, then it may be time to start looking for a new one.
