Background Checks Can Be Reality Checks As Well.

February 10th, 2009

A couple of years ago, I stepped out of the world of self-employment and into the arena of corporate America.

To say the least, the transition was full of angst and nervousness.

My work ethic (although strong from running my own small company for over a dozen years) was thoroughly entrenched in me.

How hard was it going to be to change? I asked myself.

The real kicker, however, was when I had to go through my first background check process.

Not that I was worried about anything showing up. It just proved to me how far I had to go to work my mindset into working for someone other than myself.
