Retirement Options For The Self Employed

October 3rd, 2008

When I started my business a little over nine years ago, I wasn’t thinking about retiring. After all, I was only 37 years old, and I still had plenty of time to worry about providing for my retirement.

Here I am at forty-six, and it’s way past time when I should have started self employed retirement planning for myself. I started researching plans, including all the ones you normally think of like IRA and 401K. Sadly, I just wound up more confused than before.

I wondered if there wasn’t some other program or plan specifically for small business or self employed people like myself. The information I found showed me that self employed people have options that may not work for employees, and vice-versa.
