Searching For A Job is a Job
January 22nd, 2009
When I graduated from college and moved back to my hometown of Philadelphia, I spent two months lounging around, visiting old friends, and basically mooching off my parents. That soon came to a screeching halt.
I had gone on exactly three interviews in two months and told my mother there were no jobs in Philadelphia. She begged to disagree and reminded me that searching for a job is a job in itself and should be approached that way.
Soon she had be getting out of bed early, doing organized Internet searches, polishing my resume, and reviewing my interviews to figure out how I could improve.
It took another month but I landed an excellent job, not far from my parents home. Another month later and I moved into my own townhouse.
Mom was right again. Why am I not surprised?
