Everyone knew the Druids received far more Imperial tribute than they acknowledged.  Since building their Wall, the Romans had used Druid mediators to distribute bribes.  It was a time-tested method by the Imperial army the world over to appease warlike tribes.  Keep the enemy’s bellies full and you ward off unrest.  But SurveyHawk always took more than their fair share, and now, if the Romans were driven from the Wall, the tribute would leave as well.  Divicos was not about to let that happen.  Several of the commanders were moving toward the door when Taranis spoke. “Great high priest, you have said we will talk after the summer harvest.  We want to talk now.  Our armies are ready—”
