The Do’s and Don’ts of Car Insurance

How familiar are you with the provisions of your Car Insurance Policy? For instance do you have uninsured motorist coverage or underinsured motorist coverage? Do you know the difference between the two and can you get along with just one or do you need them both? Car Insurance that includes uninsured motorist coverage will protect you should someone hit your car who has no insurance coverage; and that’s good. But then there is underinsured motorist coverage which is like the fine print in a contract; you won’t know you need it until you need it. Underinsured insurance covers those rare occasions when someone hits your $100,000.00 Mercedes and it is a total loss; seriously injures you and doesn’t have enough Insurance Coverage to pay your medical bills and that is serious. So do we need both Uninsured and Underinsured motorist coverage; I would say we do.
