Tips for Identity Protection

I am extremely cautious about giving out my information, my personal information that is. I have heard stories about people having their identity stolen and to me that is the scariest thing that I can imagine. Someone getting access to your personal information and filling out credit card applications or worse, tapping into your bank information and spending your money. I would like to know if there is anything else that I can do or top 10 tips for identity protection that I should be following. I feel like I do a good job at keeping things private but I am sure I can do more.
