Vancouver SDSL – Requirements and Benefits of SDSL

SDSL stands for symmetric digital subscribe line. It is a technology that allows data to be sent at the same speed in both directions. Just like ADSL, it is run on existing copper telephone lines (POTS), eliminating the need for costly new infrastructure to be built.  Different than ADSL, SDSL requires a special SDSL modem and will also take up the whole copper line. Benefits include the ability to host business applications such as Exchange servers, file transfer protocols, and live video streaming servers. Although SDSL is developed primarily in Europe, it is becoming more popular in North America, with companies such as SmarttNet offering it to small businesses in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
