Carbohydrates - deciphering the good from bad
November 30th, 2008
It’s another one of those majorly confusing topics for most consumers - the topic of good carbs and bad carbohydrates and how this affects your fat loss efforts.
One of the first things you need to know about carbs is that not all are evil. Your body needs certain levels of healthy carbs to function at it’s highest levels during workouts, and also needs the fiber for proper digestive function. The most important thing you can do is to avoid processed refined carbs such as most breads (except sprouted grain breads), refined grain cereals, pastas, and other refined wheat products.
Instead try to eat more fruits and vegetables as most of your carb sources, with a little bit from high fiber grains such as oat bran, rice bran, sprouted grains, etc. Try to avoid wheat products if possible as most people are sensitive to wheat in some form or another.
