Intense Pulsed Light hair removal

March 4th, 2008

Palomar Estelux Intense Pulsed Light, or IPL as it’s more commonly known, is getting rave reviews from customers and professionals alike. An updated laser technology, IPL is a broad-spectrum light, covering a wider area than most lasers. Also, it needs less heat to be effective, so it’s gentler than its predecessor.

If you decide to go with IPL hair removal, you will probably need a few treatments. That’s because hair grows in different stages, and IPL, like lasers, is most effective on the hair follicles that are in the active growth stage. For these hairs, removal will be permanent, but you will need to return when the other hairs begin their active stage. Most people need between 4 to 6 treatments, but for some, dormant hairs may surface after a few months or years. A single follow up treatment will usually suffice for these, and most people never need it at all.

The cost can be expensive, but when this is weighed up against years of waxing, it can prove a great time and money saver!
