Type of Treatment for Enlarged Prostate

February 3rd, 2009

The many options for enlarged prostate treatment include medication, herbal therapy and surgery. Medication is used to relax the muscles in the prostate gland. This will ease the high pressure on the urethra and bladder. Another effective approach using medicine is to shrink the size of the prostate gland. However, this will only work for some patients only. The doctor may also recommend treatments using lasers or controlled heat application. Nowadays, surgery is usually recommended as the last resort for enlarged prostate treatment. The good news is that advance in micro-surgery is making surgery less painful and with less side effects.
