What Do Your Blood Pressure Monitor Readings Tell You?

April 27th, 2008

If you are one of the growing band of people who are now using a simple an inexpensive blood pressure monitor at home to track the health of your family then what do the numbers tell you? Well, in very simple terms normal blood pressure should be anywhere from 90/60 to 120/80 with most people coming in towards the top end of this scale. Once your reading starts to climb above 120/80 then this is a warning that you may be developing high blood pressure and need to look to such things as your weight, diet and level of exercise to reverse this rise. If this does not do the trick and your reading continues to climb then once it reaches 140/90 you are suffering from high blood pressure and will need to take corrective action to avoid possibly serious health problems. So, if your pressure starts climbing above 120/80 and self-help corrective action does not bring it back down again you should seek help from your doctor before it reaches 140/90.
