What Are Insulated Concrete Forms
June 11th, 2008
What are insulated concrete forms? Insulated concrete forms vary. They vary from sheets with spacers. Insulated concrete forms employ a foam based panel or block with a hollow core. The core is often reinforced with steel. Cement is then poured into the hollow portion and left to cure. Once curing is complete, the foam is left in place. The foam and concrete together provide insulation, increased protection from fire and storms, a backing for interior walls and exterior siding or brick, and energy efficiency. Many homes are being built using insulated concrete forms because they provide so many benefits. They provide energy savings and security. The insulated concrete is also soundproof and sustainable and will last for many of years.
