Maori Tattoo Patterns

May 5th, 2009

The Maori natives of New Zealand believe that Tattoo Patterns of animals allow some of that animal’s qualities to be embedded into the wearer’s personality. This belief, though not openly articulated, is felt by people who have the ever-popular wolf tattoos or the dolphin and tiger tattoos. When a person inscribes himself with a scorpion tattoo they are in many ways identifying themselves with certain characteristics of a scorpion. That is the specialty of these tattoos. They can be simple or highly decorated. It may even be a symbolic representation that allows the wearer to express their inner self. Indeed, animals are viewed by certain religions with great respect.
