Regulations and Pat Testing
July 23rd, 2008
To comply with the Electricity At Work Regulations businesses must have regular pat testing. The day to day usage of electrical appliances means that eventually they will suffer some deterioration or damage; because of this is essential for businesses to set up a pat testing schedule. Added to this is the common sense safeguard that should ensure businesses regularly test and maintain their electrical appliances. Failure to do this will result in the appliances suffering wear and tear which could otherwise have been avoided. Businesses should look upon pat testing as a way to ensure that their maintenance and therefore safety of their electrical appliances is officially noted. A definition of a portable appliance, according to the Electricity At Work Regulations, is any piece of electrical equipment that can be moved from area to area and reconnected to the supply via a plug and socket system.
