Who is the alpha, your dog or you?
April 1st, 2008
Many dog owners have adopted homeless puppies or dogs. Often times these dogs turn out to be the perfect match, some other times, less often, these dogs can bring home some trouble. So, what should the dog owner do if the dog that they brought home is causing trouble. chances are that this problematic dog has been having difficulty identifying the alpha. It is very important that dogs know who the alpha is in the household. One of the humans should take the alpha role, and train the dog to follow his commands. Training a dog can easily be done with positive reinforcement. It is not necessary to scream or yell at the dog. Dogs respond better when they are given a toy, a treat or a kind word when they show positive behavior.
