Wondering if I Can Afford Dallas TX Real Estate

I have been renting a small apartment for the past few years. It is not the best apartment but it is affordable and that has allowed me to put some money away every month to save for a down payment on a house or condo. I am wondering if I can afford Dallas TX real estate right now. I know that prices and mortgage rates are nice and low so I think if I can, now is the time to do it. But before I do buy any thing, I want to do my home work and run the numbers so that I can be a responsible buyer and know that I will be able to make my monthly mortgage payments now and in the future!
