Online Golf Tips For Beginners – The Fade And Draw Shot

February 8th, 2008

In yet another of our online golf tips for beginners we examine the fade and draw shot.

Advanced golfers are able to use the ball’s sidespin as part of their playing strategy and, for example, purposely make the ball spin clockwise or counterclockwise to move it to the right or left as it flies through the air.

In golf, this type of clockwise spin causing movement to the right is called the fade, while a counterclockwise spin moving the ball to the left is called the draw.

Perhaps one of the worst mistakes that a beginner can make is to attempt to copy this professional tactic too soon and this invariably results in all sorts of problems. Your job as a novice should simply be to practice hitting the ball as straight as you can and this means getting as little spin on the ball as possible. Once you have mastered this art you can then start to experiment with more advanced techniques.
