Skinheads, Punks and Dr Martens Shoes

Footwear has always been important within different cultures and for Dr Martens Shoes this is especially true.  The footwear brand has built its success by manufacturing boots and shoes that were comfortable to wear as well as being hard wearing.

The shoes were initially worn as work boots by postmen and factory workers, however the boots would become more synonymous for their connection with both the punk and ska music scenes of the 1970’s and 1980’s.

While Dr Martens boots were the choice of most male skinheads and punks, Dr Martens shoes were the footwear of choice for many female skinheads.
