A Tough Year For Wind Power?

February 9th, 2009

Wind power has seen fantastic growth in the past few years and over 50% last year alone and is firmly supported by President Obama. However, in an industry where over half the materials used are made on US soil, this year may not see the industry able to keep moving in the same direction considering the current economic climate.

The sector will be looking towards the new stimulus package which should see direct payments and further tax breaks for wind energy projects, and some industry insiders are confident that the current 2% of the energy market that is provided for by wind enrgy could still increase.

There is also optimism for home wind power as more individuals are gaining the confidence and knowledge to build there own wind turbines and take their own responsibility for the enregy they use.
