Looking for Ways to Fix Corrupt Registry Files

I have been having some big problems with my computer and have been looking for ways to fix it.  It has been freezing up a lot and all that can be done at that point is to shut it down and re-start it.  This is a big pain in the neck because it takes forever for the start up process to complete.  Opening up Internet Explorer takes a long time too so its really frustrating to use the computer.  I am looking for ways to fix corrupt registry files because I think that is what is causing all these problems.
