The Peruvian Connection

July 20th, 2009

After tracing my family history back to Peru I have become fascinated with every aspect of Peru and all that it has to offer. Seeing that my roots traced back to Peru has ignited a sudden need and urgency in me to discover all I can about Peru. I strived to find that connection with my past and understand that part of my family. Despite filling my head with facts, books and images of Peru I was not able to truly feel that connection with my ancestors until I discovered Tikanchay jewelry. The handcrafted jewelry offered by Tikanchay offers more than just tedious facts about Peru or flat pictures but rather actual pieces that were created in Peru, by Peruvians using natural materials native to the lands. Wearing the jewelry and knowing of the meanings behind each piece and work and love put into it by the Peruvian artisans has allowed me to find this connection with my family in a way that I had not thought possible.
